Closing My Cape Town Chapter

For example, I remember Asher asking me about the mountains here, and I encourage you to use tools and resources to explore that! One hike I did up Table Mountain was around four miles long and took my friend and me about two and a half hours to go up. How long does it usually take you to run a mile in P.E.? Try using that to figure out how long it might take you to hike Table Mountain, too! Or maybe look for microclimates near you... they’re everywhere! A microclimate is like a secret little zone with its own rules for temperature, wind and rain. For example, the spot under a big shady tree might feel cooler than the playground just a few steps away, or one side of a hill could be windy while the other is quiet and warm. This changes the plants and animals in these different areas. For example, the plants near a pond will be different from the plants further away from that pond.

If you’re up for the challenge, I encourage you to look at the world around you, and for an even greater challenge maybe one day, I challenge you to travel to another country with the support of the Gilman Scholarship (they make this challenge so much easier).

And while this is goodbye for now, the journey isn’t over. Instead, this is the start of a new journey beginning, starting with what you do next!

Masambe!

(In English: Let’s go!)

And, thank you so much for coming along this journey with me. Special thanks to Ms. Reimers, my editor Jenny Mackenzie, the Gilman Scholarship, and everyone at Reach the World for making this collaboration possible. I wish you all the very best.
