Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

This week was crazy for travel. I took the train to Madrid (329 miles), and took day trips from Madrid to Toledo (44 miles) and Segovia (59 miles). Then I came back to Sevilla for the night and left for El Rocío (51 miles) the next morning.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

So far I've traveled all throughout Spain; to Porto, Portugal; Gibraltar, UK (but it's in mainland Spain!); and Morocco.

How did I get around this week?:

I used a combination of walking, buses, metro, trains, taxis and horseback this week. It was a busy busy week! The only mode of transportation I can think of that I didn’t use was a boat.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

El Rocío was my favorite town in Spain. It’s like stepping back in time to an old Western movie. It’s really small and the entire town is designed with horses in mind. Every road is a dirt road, there are no street names or traffic laws, the streets are extra wide for the horses and carriages, every single establishment and house has hitching posts in front for the horses, and the bars have horse-height railings so you can eat and drink on horseback. I had the chance to do both, and it was hard!
