I traveled a lot towards the end of September (I can't wait to tell you about it in a later post!), so I've been staying in Beijing for the week. I haven't gone very far except to go hiking and to see some friends.
Far! I'm living in China to study snow leopards, but there aren't any snow leopards near Beijing, so that means I travel a lot around China to get to snow leopard habitats. Our closest field site is about 1,200 miles from Beijing! In total so far just within China, I've traveled about 4,000 miles.
Beijing is a very accessible city! The public transportation system is great. There are many stores near me, so I typically walk everywhere to get what I need, but to get to the science research institute I work at I take the bus, and to visit friends I usually take the subway.
Beijing has a lot of parks and green spaces. One of my favorites is Chaoyang Park. It is very big, and there are many things to do in the park. I really like to go running, and Chaoyang Park has the best running trails! I tried a new running trail this past week, and I think it is my favorite so far.
