Ramen

Introduction:

Ramen is a famous noodle dish served in Japan. While accepted as Chinese in origin, ramen is a major staple in Japanese cuisine. It is common for people to get together for a cheap and hot bowl of ramen after a long day at school or work. There are also ramen bars where people can sit and eat alone if they'd like.

What food did I try?:

The best ramen I've had was tomato ramen. Usually, ramen noodles are served in a meat-based broth or soup. Most of the time you will see pork or beef broth, with a piece of pork and partially-boiled eggs on top. Tomato ramen is special. It uses a tomato-based broth and has cheese (and sometimes tiny pizzas) on top! Does that sound good to you?

How did I feel when I tried it?:

Since it's cold in Japan right now, the tomato ramen's heat was extremely welcome! It immediately filled my body with warmth and comfort. I could definitely see myself eating it every day during the cold harshness of winter. The traditional feel of Japanese ramen is combined with the crisp and saucy taste of a western-style broth.

How is the food prepared?:

Ramen noodles are often made by hand in specialty ramen restaurants, and each restaurant will likely have a slightly different way of preparing them. The long, thin noodles are boiled, then placed in a bowl with concentrated broth.
