An Adventure Around Kirstenbosch Gardens

Introduction:

Hello! I can't believe it's already been four weeks since we started this journey together! This week, I'm excited to tell you all about the lemon dove, a unique bird found in Cape Town's beautiful environment. I'm a member of my university's Birding Club, and each weekend we visit parks and gardens to discover different birds found around Cape Town. Recently, we visited Kirstenbosch Gardens, a garden filled with different types of plants and wildlife. With binoculars in hand, we stumbled upon a bird hidden under a tree. I quickly found out from my friends that this bird was called the lemon dove, and I can't wait to tell you everything I learned!

What does this creature or plant look like?:

The lemon dove is a medium-sized bird with a large belly and a light-gray face. The back feathers of these birds are typically a brownish-gray color, and their bellies are a deep brown (fun fact: they're also called cinnamon doves!). Male lemon doves have a green neck and white facial markings, while female and young lemon doves often have brown and gray markings on their heads.

How did I feel when I saw it?:

At first, when I saw everyone in my group staring at the ground, I didn't understand what they were looking at, because the bird was so quiet!.
