A Day in the Life of Sandra

Introduction:

My co-worker Sandra just returned to her home city Brussels after living in London, so I asked her about her latest day-to-day life now that she's back.

What is your full name?:

Sandra Riano

Where do you live? What is your house like?:

I live in Uccle, a neighborhood of Brussels, in a one-bedroom flat with a cat and my fiancé.

What is your family like?:

I come from a half Greek, half Spanish family. My grandparents were immigrants who moved to Belgium during the 1950s right after the Second World War. Growing up, I spent a lot of time with them in a very Mediterranean environment. Both sides of my family didn't really speak French, which was the local language; they spoke Greek and Spanish. I used to go to Spanish classes on Saturday mornings; my cousins would go to the Greek ones.

How do you get around?:

To get around here, we have the tram very close to our flat. Then I take the metro for five stops to get to work. All in all, it's a 40-45 minute commute to work.

What types of clothing do you like to wear?:

I like comfortable clothes, but not the American comfortable-type sweatpants, etc. It's more of the European comfortable, which is more conservative, classic and...boring (unlike London where you might see people with a more "out there" sense of style).
