Lunches in Luxembourg

Introduction:

In Luxembourg, secondary (high school) students are able to choose what they want for lunch from 3-4 dishes. They are given a lunch card to pay for every meal. As teachers, we are given the same card as part of our program. This way, we get to have lunch supplied for us. Each lunch includes a starter, main course and a dessert. A dessert could be fruit or a sweet treat like chocolate. There are always options for vegans and vegetarians.

What food did I try?:

Each day, I try a main course, with vegetables and protein and either fruit or dessert. Sometimes, I also choose to get peach tea along with my water.

On Monday, I started with a salad. Then, I had sausage, peas and mashed potatoes as my main course. Finally, I had a tiramisu (I think) in a chocolate cup.

Tuesday, I had another salad as my starter. Then, pasta, peas and steak for my main course. Finally, I had a pie for my dessert. I could not tell you what kind of pie it was as my French was not fluent enough to read the sign.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

I felt overjoyed when I tried their lunches. They are filling and delicious. Then, it made me sad to think about the lunches we had back home.
