This weekend, I went to Copenhagen, Denmark. While I was there, I saw this bird that looked like a seagull. While it posed for a picture, I wondered what kind of bird it was.
This creature was a bird! He had wings, webbed feet, brown spotted feathers and a black tail. I swear this bird was looking right at me! It even posed for a picture!
I felt curious when I saw the bird, as there were a lot of pigeons around, and this bird didn't look anything like them.
When I looked up the bird online, I found out that it is a European Herring Gull. It lives all along the coast from Iceland to the United Kingdom to Russia. A coast is a piece of land that is next to a body of water.
Because the Herring Gull lives along the coast, what do you think it eats? That's right: fish! It sometimes also eats crabs, bugs and plants found along the coastal land. These birds are really smart and also like to stay around people because they know we will feed them or drop our food!
