The Wheels On The Bus Go All Around Italy!

Some people take the bus to get to the grocery store, airports, train stations and to see family and friends. They provide an easy way to get around, and are sometimes cheaper than trains. We recently had a pretty bad storm (Cyclone Harry). The entire Calabrian coast and the islands of Sicily and Malta were hit really hard by the cyclone, and it damaged some of the train tracks nearby. There was a big earthquake too (5.1 magnitude!) that shook up some of the tracks. Luckily, the buses are available! When the trains can’t run because of damage or really bad weather, the buses will usually still arrive. It is easier for the bus take different routes to get to places, even if the stops change a little. There aren’t many sets of train tracks, so even a little bit of damage causes a lot of delays and cancellations. On Monday I was going to take a train, but all of them were canceled!

Buses are also good for the environment. Instead of 30 people driving in separate cars, they are all in one vehicle! This reduces air pollution and the use of oil and gas. It doesn't only help the environment—it also gives me a chance to meet new people! I love watching the mountains fly past as we drive down the highway, even if I get a little nauseous. It really helps me appreciate all the beautiful nature around me, and I always want to go on a walk on the beach after I see it in the mornings!
