Food For Thought

Introduction:

There have been many delicious foods here in Vietnam! Here in Chu Town, there are many local restaurants that sell everything from Pho, a famous Vietnamese soup dish made of rice noodle, green veggies and beef, to Bun Cha. Many stores also sell snacks from all across Asia, such as Thailand, South Korea and Japan. Many popular snacks in Vietnam include Choco-Pies, Milo and Kem (ice cream).

What food did I try?:

I have tried many foods in Vietnam! From water buffalo and horse meat to silkworm and lotus, every week brings a new and interesting dish. I have tried some yummy fruits such as Lychee and Rambutan as well as fruits like Jackfruit and Durian.

Some of my favorite dinner foods are stir-fried pork, Chinese water spinach, white rice and chicken adobo.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

When I first had certain fruits such as Lychee and Rambutan, I was really surprised how sweet it was! Many meals in Vietnam are salty, such as Pho, so I enjoyed having something sweet after a meal. Another item I did not expect to like so much was Jackfruit. I used to have it a lot growing up and I grew tired of it, but I forgot how sweet it was! Also, eating Jackfruit here reminds me of home, so I like having it when it's offered.
