Food For Thought

How is the food prepared?:

Some foods, such as rice, take little time and energy to prepare here. Many vegetables are stir-fried in a skillet using chopsticks and many types of meat are baked in a mini oven, fried or boiled. Very popular meats in Vietnam include boiled chicken and fried pork.

Is this food connected to the local environment? How?:

Rice is a staple of most meals in Vietnam. Rice is grown all over the country, which makes it very easy to purchase. Also, since rice is so filling, many people eat rice with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Many areas in Northern Vietnam are dedicated to farming. Some of the most common foods I have seen growing in my province include rice, corn, bananas, lychee, jackfruit, oranges, durian and longan fruit.
