Daily Life in a STEM Professional's Life

Introduction:

This class is split into three sections. I decided to interview my second professor: Manuel Soler. He teaches the airports section of the class where we learn about the design of airports and all the important factors that go into designing an airport. You would be surprised how much of an effort goes into designing an airport runway.

What is your full name?:

“Manuel Soler”

Where do you live? What is your house like?:

“I’m from Aragon, between Barcelona and Madrid. I live nearby the university, so to speak, outskirts of Madrid, and it’s a 'flat', an apartment, that is a 100 square meters with three bedrooms for me and my wife and my kid … we have a swimming pool and a playground in the neighborhood. We have parks in the neighborhood and bike trails.”

What is your family like?:

“I have a wife and one year and a half-year-old girl. I have two brothers and they're living abroad in Germany and Switzerland.”

How do you get around?:

“With a car. In my case with a car, but there is a good transportation network. You can use buses, the subway. There is also regional trains. If you want to go abroad to cities nearby you can take high-speed trains, it’s well connected.
