Kid's Lives in Ecuador

Introduction:

One day after work this week, I spent time with Niko and Alex, two sons of one of the English professors at my university. Niko is nine years old and Alex is fourteen. They live just two houses down from me, so I see them pretty often! From asking these questions and talking with Niko and Alex, I noticed that a lot of things about their lives were different from my life when I was their age. However, I noticed a lot of similarities as too!

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

For breakfast, they usually have some chocolate milk and bread. Lunch is usually different every day, but some examples of food they have for lunch are soup, empanadas (fried dough stuffed with vegetables, meat and/or cheese), pork, rice, salad and juice. Here in Ecuador dinner is a smaller meal than lunch, so they usually have some bread, fruit, milk and morocho (a sweet dessert made with rice, corn, milk and cinnamon). For dinner, they sometimes eat out at restaurants and have pizza, their favorite food.

What is your house like?:

Their house is skinny, with three floors. There is a little area with a small garden in front of their house behind a metal gate. The first floor is the living room, kitchen and dining room. The second floor has three bedrooms (their two rooms plus their mom’s room), two bathrooms and a small office.
