I am so happy to be returning to Reach the World! My last RTW Journey was to Lesotho, and I am confident that my time in Scotland will be just as exciting and rewarding.
I am a proud Fulbright alumna to Kyrgyzstan, as well as a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer to Lesotho. I also spent some time in Turkiye as a Critical Language Scholar. I love living abroad and meeting new people!
I am 26 years old and am from Wisconsin. In my free time, I enjoy gardening and going to the theater to watch movies, concerts, and artistic productions. I am an animal-lover, and have fostered many kittens over the past several years. I also have a passion for scuba diving, although Scotland does not have much of a diving community, simply due to the cold water temperatures! That said, I have occasionally ventured into the North Sea for a quick swim on a sunny day here, albeit, in my wetsuit!
Traditional music is very popular in St Andrews, and is taken quite seriously. Everyone seems to be able to sing and read music extremely well! I sing in two choirs, one affiliated with the university, and the other with a local church. We sing sacred music, such as introits, Gregorian chants, hymns, and psalms - all of which are very different than repetoire sung in U.S. religious organizations or university choirs.
Our time together will go by quickly, but I am excited to be able to take you along for part of this journey. I hope that you will learn a lot about Scotland and feel free to ask your teacher or myself about ways for you to get involved in international activities or programs that fit your interests!
