The farthest was to Edinburgh. I had to take two buses to get there. I could have taken the train, but the line was down due to electrical work. As a student, I get to participate in a discount program offered through my university that grants students and staff heavily discounted bus tickets in Scotland. Also, if you're under the age of 22, which I sadly am not, you get free bus travel anywhere in Scotland!
Not very far, I still have yet to leave Scotland. I hope to get down to London in January, and perhaps into Europe as well if I can find some cheap flights!
By bus, bike, and foot!
Last month I visited the town of Braemar, about a 2-hour drive north of St Andrews, to swim in the River Dee with my Wild Swimming group. It is very popular in the UK for people to swim in lakes, rivers and the sea year-round. I wear a wetsuit to protect my body from the cold, but most people don't! If you want to try wild swimming, I encourage you to go with a friend and always tell an adult where you plan to swim!
