Earlier this month, St Andrews hosted the Dunhill Links Championship, which is a professional golf tournament hosted annually. If you didn't know, St Andrews is the home of golf! It is said that The Old Course is the oldest golf course in the world, and that golf has been played here since the 15th century. Rotary, which is the organization that sponsors my study, invited me to serve as a volunteer during the golf championship. This event happens every year, and Rotary always sets up a booth alongside the course to ask the spectators to buy raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes. Selling these raffle tickets makes up most of their funding during this long weekend. By the end of the tournament, we had made just around $9,000! All of the money goes towards Rotary's local projects and student scholarships.
