I saw a rainbow while walking on West Sands Beach last week. I think I've seen more rainbows in the last two months since I've been here than I have in my entire life!
Last week, we had an alert for a wind storm due to a storm over the Atlantic that was expected to bring damage to some areas of the country. In the UK, they use a color system to determine the seriousness of potential weather. Yellow warnings are for weather that is expected to cause moderate impact, including disruption in travel. Amber warnings, which is what we had, are an increased likelihood of impacts from severe weather, which could potentially disrupt and delay travel plans, as roads and rail lines may close, as there is potential risk to life and property. A red warning is the most serious, as it expects dangerous weather, and people in this zone should take immediate action to keep themselves and others safe from the impact of this severe weather, with a very high likelihood of risk to life; travel should be avoided at all costs.
