The D.J.s took well-known hit songs and mixed in cool beats, transforming these familiar melodies into something entirely new. By the end of the night, I lost my voice from all the shouting and singing, my feet hurt and I was completely euphoric.
The rest of our time in Amsterdam was slower-paced but just as fun. One afternoon, we took a canal boat tour that offered us cheese and wine. As the boat glided past the city’s narrow houses and bridges, it felt as though I were moving through a postcard. We also made our own personalized Tony’s chocolate bars, and I made one for my parents as well. The most meaningful part of the trip was visiting the Anne Frank House. Standing in the small, quiet rooms where she once hid was surreal, and something I’d only read about in school suddenly became very real and human. Later, we walked through the Red Light District, just to say we’d seen it. Overall, Amsterdam had such a unique energy, and it's a place I would definitely go back to.
When we got back to London on Wednesday morning, we spent the day resting and catching up on sleep before Halloweekend began. On Thursday, the twins and I decided to dress up as frat brothers to poke fun at our friends in fraternities back home. They joined in the fun, dressing as random food items such as a banana, a pickl, and a chili, and we spent the night dancing and laughing at our favorite pub in London. It was a carefree night as everyone was just there to have fun and sing along to our favorite songs.
Friday was Halloween itself, and we went to a party our friend recommended. Lily and I dressed as cheetahs and Meli went as a deer. We got caught in a rainstorm and were completely soaked by the end of the night.
