I most enjoyed visiting houses of the Atacameno people. They taught me so many new things about their culture. One really cool thing they taught me is that they use clay to build most of their homes and buildings in town. The dirt helps them create clay, so the people in the area have used it to make homes and other buildings.
The trip to the Atacama was a long one! Even though the desert is still part of Chile, we had to take a bus and a plane and then another bus to get there! Chile is a really long country from north to south, so it takes a lot of time to travel from one part to the another.
The weather in the Atacama Desert and town of San Pedro was cold and windy during the mornings and evenings but warm and sunny during the middle of the day. We had to be sure to bring a lot of layers because the temperature changes so much throughout the day!
