We had to travel north 992 miles to get to the Atacama Desert! We had to take an airplane there.
On the journey so far I have traveled about 1,039 miles.
In the desert, we used a bus to get from one place to the next.
I most enjoyed visiting houses of the Atacameno people. They taught me so many new things about their culture. One really cool thing they taught me is that they use clay to build most of their homes and buildings in town. The dirt helps them create clay, so the people in the area have used it to make homes and other buildings.
The trip to the Atacama was a long one! Even though the desert is still part of Chile, we had to take a bus and a plane and then another bus to get there! Chile is a really long country from north to south, so it takes a lot of time to travel from one part to the another.
