Most of the time, they were too quick for me; scurrying back into the trees before I could get a shot. But my persistence paid off, and I did manage to get one great picture!
Definitely the Qingshui Cliffs. The cliffs are part of Taiwan’s Taroko National Park in Hualien County, which is on the East coast. Taiwan’s East coast is far less populated than its West coast, but it is well known for its natural beauty. The Cliffs took my breath away. They are actually considered one of Taiwan’s ‘Eight Wonders’ -- I certainly saw why.
On my huandao, I was able to stop at quite a few natural attractions. Seeing them all in one week really highlighted to me how diverse Taiwan’s nature is, which is especially remarkable because of the country’s small size (it is only 1/4th the size of my home state, Iowa)! Besides the Qingshui Cliffs, my other favorite stops were the Yehliu Geopark in New Taipei City, which has unique natural rock formations, and the Sicao Green Tunnel in Tainan, which is a natural ‘tunnel’ formed by mangrove trees.
