London's Community Problem

Why does the community have this need?:

London has this need for many reasons, and these reasons are not just unique to London and the U.K. This need can be seen all over the world, including the United States. The lack of adequate housing stems from core issues such as mental health, poverty, increasing rent prices, unsuitable housing and substance abuse, to name a few. Many groups at risk are minorities and people of the LGBTQ community. Homelessness is not the real issue; rather, it's the inability of the government and local agencies to help this group of people. London has this particular problem in part because of the high of cost of living in this city. There are a many resources within London, but they are all very limited because of funding or other reasons. I was able to stop in at two homeless shelters and a charity shop called "Shelter". It was a challenge finding these places, because the information online about them was not currect, or the shelters did not have signs indicating what they were. I believe there is a need to make sure the information about resources is correct so that people are able to find these places easily. I was not able to go into the shelter, so I took a picture of it from the outside. It looks similar to any other apartment building.

Is this need being met? How?:

The need for more resources is being met minimally in London. There are shelters set up, charity shops for people to get clothes and substance abuse and mental health counselors are being provided to some people who need them. However, the number of people in need outweighs the resources available.
