Integrating into the London Community

While food in the United States is also often delicious, many of the foods are filled with sugar and other processed ingredients that are not always good for us. But London makes an effort to keep food healthy. For instance, a sugar tax has led to less sugar in many items, including soda. In addition, many of the jams and juices are sweetened with real fruit. I can also look at the ingredients on food labels and recognize almost all of them. I love it! Much of the the food is also influenced by Asian culture. I've barely tasted Asian food, so this will take a little adjusting to get used to. I am partly Hispanic, so I find myself starting to miss tacos and chimichangas. However, it has not been hard changing the types of foods I eat because I like trying new foods and I think of it as a challenge.

The coursework in my classes has been a shock. I am used to having at least ten or more assignments each term. But for all my classes, there are only three assignments! I have to do really well on those assignments to do well in the class. I am going to have to work hard and push myself so I can complete the challenge successfully. The people in my classes are from all over the world. There are people from India, Italy, America, the United Kingdom, Russia, China and South Korea. This is the most cultural diversity I have ever seen.

Overall, leaving my community and joining a new community in London has been a lot of fun. I have met new people and tried many new things. I am most excited to learn about them and their cultures. I have tried new foods, had many challenges, and have stepped out of my comfort zone. I have struggled a little with joining this community, but in no time I will feel like a Londoner.
