My journey to China started with a question. "How is school different from one culture to another?" I wanted to learn with students from a different part of the world, and I wanted to better understand another system of education. This led me to apply for a fellowship through Princeton in Asia to teach English, and now here I am in Shenyang!

I am living and teaching at Northeastern University, a medium-sized public university in (as you may have guessed) the northeastern part of China in the Liaoning Province. I will be teaching first year students newspaper reading and oral English. I have found Shenyang to be a beautiful and welcoming city full of a wide range of things to do. In Shenyang, beyond teaching, I am looking forward to trying new foods, making new friends, and exploring a new city.

I am originally from a small town in Connecticut, and this is my first time in Asia. While I teach my students English, I will also be learning Mandarin by taking language classes and working with a tutor. Before moving to China, I worked for two years as a college adviser with the College Advising Corps at a rural high school in Pennsylvania. In my downtime, I enjoy reading, running, and baking bread.
