Abigail's Journey to China

Current Location

Shenyang, China

Nǐ hǎo! Hello! I am Abby, and I will be teaching for one year at Northeastern University in Shenyang, China. I am so excited to share my adventure with you!

Suzhou is known for its beautiful canals, which people travel down by boat. Besides exploring the canals, I celebrated my friends birthday and practiced speaking Chinese here, too!

I love living in Shenyang so far. I have met many warm, welcoming people that have become my friends! Having friends to show me around and introduce me to Chinese culture helps me feel like I belong.

Field Notes

Shenyang is a city about as populous as New York City, but larger in size. Nature in the city center can be hard to find. Luckily, there are parks throughout the city to bring people closer to nature.

The capital of the Qing Dynasty was located in Shenyang for a long time. The second emperor, Hong Taiji, is buried in a park here. There are also many beautiful temples that were built in his honor.
