My name is Abigail, and I am currently an English teacher in Shenyang, China. I chose to move to China to teach English because I love teaching and wanted to experience working with students in another culture. I also love to try new food, so that was an added bonus!

I attended Franklin and Marshall College and was a double major in Political Science and Gender Studies. While in college, I ran both track and cross country, so I feel very lucky that in Shenyang I live across the street from a track where I can run! After graduating from college, I worked in the guidance office at a very rural public high school in Pennsylvania. I helped students with college applications and scholarships. Working in a rural school made me interested in what school is like in different places around the country and around the world. Teaching in China is definitely different, but awesome all the same.

In my free time I love to read (especially fiction books), cook dinner with friends and practice speaking Mandarin Chinese. Learning Chinese has been a big challenge, so I try to practice a little bit each day to gradually improve. I take Mandarin classes three times per week, which has helped me make friends and learn new words.
