So Many Trams!

Introduction:

You might know about cars and buses, but in Gothenburg, it's all about trams. A tram is like a bus, but it works on special tracks like a train. These tracks are on the road.

How do people get around?:

There are only a few cars on the road in Gothenburg. In fact, there are so few cars that some streets only have four or five cars drive on them all day! Most cars stay parked. There are lots of bicycles though. There are so many bikes that there is a special bicycle sidewalk instead of just a street lane.

Most of the street is filled with trams and some busses. There is also a big train station. You take the train to other cities though, not to get around town. Each tram visits the tram stations at least every ten minutes. This means that I did not have to remember the schedule because I knew the longest I would wait is ten minutes.

Tickets are printed on little cardboard cards that are the size of a credit card. They can last two hours, twelve hours, a day or three days. You can also buy a six-month card for around $300 dollars! If you are caught without a ticket, you have to pay about $120 dollars.

The other way to get around Gothenburg is to walk! While This is what I did.
