¡Viva la Independencia de Guatemala! (Long Live the Independence of Guatemala!)

When I asked about differences in how independence is celebrated around different communities in Guatemala, it appears that there are a lot of similarities, and that the antorcha (the torch) and desfiles (parades) tend to be important traditions all around the country. A special parade done in Palestina, however, is the parade of tuk tuks, which are tiny cars that people use to get around in, sort of like a taxi! All the drivers decorate their tuk tuks with flags, signs and paint and drive in a line honking their horns as loud as possible. It was a pretty awesome sight!
