I decided that Peace Corps was a good fit and opportunity for me because I want to solidify my Spanish fluency, learn more about public health and get hands-on work experience, and get another chance to travel and live in another country and culture. Peace Corps provides an amazing way to explore and travel in a meaningful and accessible way. You get to work with people from a culture other than your own to support a community in meeting its needs, such helping it gain access to nutritional foods and education around nutrition for young children. You also get to travel and have new experiences without a financial burden.
I cannot wait to share the beautiful adventures I am having in Guatemala and everything I am learning about the culture, nature and history. I am also excited to get to know all of you, your backgrounds, your dreams and what you are passionate about! No question is a silly question, so please be curious and let me know what more you would like to learn about Guatemala and the Peace Corps.
¡Feliz día patojos! ("Happy day, young ones" is a commonly used colloquialism in Guatemala.)
¡Nos vemos pronto virtualmente! (See you soon, virtually!)
