I am so excited to get to know all of you!
My name is Kate, and I am a 23-year-old Peace Corps Volunteer living in Guatemala and working in the health program. Right now, I am living in a town called Palestina de Los Altos, which is part of the Quetzaltenango department. A department is kind of like a state. Within the health program, I work specifically with maternal and child health (the health of pregnant people and their babies) projects and activities, but, because my socia, my work partner, is a psychologist, I also get to help her with a lot of mental health work. We get to do a whole range of activities! Sometimes my days mostly involve helping my socia with her patients or giving advice to pregnant people to help them stay healthy during their pregnancy, on other days we help the nutritionist with clubs like the Kids Grow Together Club (this club aims to help reduce malnutrition, when someone does not get all the healthy foods they need) and some days we are at schools talking about sexual and reproductive health!
