Your Average Josef

Introduction:

It's 11:00 AM on Friday, November 16th. School gets out early today, just like every Friday, so that students can travel home by train or bus. Most students live away from their parents in a dormitory to attend a specialized high school focused on their future career plans. Pepa, a sophmore in the veterinary and animal science program, enters the room with his typical bubbly personality and plops into a seat. He's agreed to stay late today to share his experiences and opinions about what it's like to be a teenager in the Czech Republic.

Here is a shortened transcript from the video, which you can watch in its own album, Average Josef.

What is your full name?:

Joey: My full name is Josef Střondala.

Me: And what's your nickname?

Joey: Uh, nickname. Do you mean like first name, Joseph? Oh, Joey.

Me: Joey, and on Facebook you go by a different name, what is it?

Joey: Pepa. [Pepa is the official nickname for Josef, just like Jim is the nickname for James in the United States.]

Where do you live? What is your house like?:

Joey: I live in Těrlicko, but usually I'm saying that I live in Havířov because it is more known as a city than Těrlicko. Těrlicko is just a little village or something like that, and my house is pretty big. I have got two floors. I have got my own room.

My brothers have got their own room as well.
