I traveled about 70 miles between the city of Hong Kong and Guangzhou.
This is the second trip outside of Hong Kong that I have made so far. A few weeks ago I was traveling around George Town, Penang, Malaysia and Singapore!
I took the high-speed rail connecting Hong Kong with Guangzhou. The train goes upwards of 300 km/hour and makes the journey between the two cities in under an hour.
I visited the Chen Clan Academy. The building was designed to be the family hall and gathering place for members of the Chen clan in the southern China region. Back in Imperial times, wealthy Chinese would have to take a test to gain entry into important government positions. The academy was therefore built to house members visiting the city to take the exams.
It has a lot of cool features in Cantonese architecture, including elaborately decorated roofs featuring terracotta sculptural works and insanely ornate woodcuts.
