What main languages are spoken here?:

The main languages in Malta are English and Maltese. Maltese sounds like a mixture of Italian and Arabic.  Even though everyone speaks English, I am taking Maltese classes because I believe that it is important to learn the language of the countries in which I live.  As of right now, I speak Spanish and Malagasy semi-fluently and I know a little bit of German, French and Maltese.

What type of money is used here?:

Malta is part of the European Union so they use the euro. 1 Euro is about $1.12 USD right now, so they are almost worth the same amount.

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

The tap water in Malta is actually desalinated sea water, so most people prefer to drink bottled water. Many grocery stores will give you free bottles of water if you purchase your groceries there. One big bottle of water costs about 1 euro, but it becomes cheaper and cheaper when you buy more.

What was the best meal this week?:

The best meal that I had this week was a big pasta lunch with my co-workers. On Wednesday, all of the teachers at one of my schools went on a scavenger hunt and then met for lunch at a restaurant where they served us three different types of pasta and dessert. The pasta options were pasta with carbonara sauce, pasta with pesto sauce and pasta with tuna.
