It is the rainy season in Ghana right now, so it has been consistently cloudy and full of violent rain.
The group that I travelled with to the Volta Region wanted to go to a "Monkey Sanctuar." Unfortunately due to the rain, the only monkey we saw was in the middle of a road. We stopped so one of my friends could feed it a banana.
The coolest thing in nature that I saw this week was the tallest waterfall in West Africa. The size and power of the water crashing against the earth right before my eyes gave me an indescribable feeling. I have never seen anything in nature with such magnitude. It made the nearly six hour hike worth it!
Ghana is full of nature whether it be all the lizards and geckos running around or the giant birds swooping from tree to tree. It's been an adjustment coming from New York to Ghana where instead of living around nature, you live in nature!
