Urban China

Introduction:

Urbanization refers to the rush of people into cities. Although they come from different backgrounds, these people must all work, live, and play together. So a Chinese city is full of lively groups of people who work and live in tall tall buildings.

What makes this environment special or different?:

In a way, a Chinese city is like a busy forest. How so? Well, let’s figure this out together!

Imagine you are a bird flying over a forest.

What would you see?

Lots of tall, tall trees.

What would you hear?

Lots of noise! Each tree is home to a community of many different animals who are busy working, walking or talking with friends. And each forest is home to many different types of communities.

Now replace those trees with tall, shiny buildings and the animals with people. You will find that a Chinese city is a place filled with lots of tall buildings and lively communities. People are always going to places in order to eat, to share and listen to stories and to attend many different kinds of events. Even at night, the city is alive and filled with colorful lights. It is as if the city never sleeps.
