In Taiwan, Mandarin Chinese is the main language that is spoken. Many people also speak Taiwanese or Hakka. Since there are many different aboriginal groups in Taiwan with their own languages, especially in the area that I live in, you can even meet a lot of people who speak Chinese, Taiwanese, and their aboriginal language.
The money that is used in Taiwan is called the New Taiwan Dollar, but most of the time you can see it written as "NT".

I went to one of my program coordinator's homes and ate a delicious home-cooked meal that her mom made. There were so many dishes, and they were all delicious, but some of my favorites were the mapuo dofu (a tofu dish mixed with spices and pork or beef) and the fish. Fish is typically cooked and served with the head and tail still attached, and some people even dare to try the fish's eye- it's a delicacy!
