That teacher then helped me get an interview in the village and told me to head to Tachai, since it has a lot more farms. Then, he gave me the contact of a family I could stay with. I felt so at home with that family, and they helped me get interviews in Tachai. Doing all my interviews in Nepali was challenging, but everyone was very supportive of my Nepali skills. Those who knew English helped me translate as well.
Thus, it was important that I set aside my fears of the unknown and trust the kindness of the people around me. I appreciate everyone who went to such great lengths to help me, a stranger, get to where I needed to go when I had no idea where to go or how to get there. This strategy may not have worked in many other countries, but Nepal—especially rural Nepal—made me feel welcome as I traveled completely on my own. It's still very important to remain cautious at all times, no matter where you are.
Thank you to all the lovely people I met, I hope to visit this country again someday. Until then, I'll keep practicing my Nepali.
