Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

Basically, it took me two days and 12,120 (flying) miles to get to Nepal.

We also drove all around the Kathmandu area for meetings and added about another 250 miles of driving over the course of the week!

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

From Seattle to Kathmandu, and including jeep travel-time, the total is approximately: 12,120 (airplane miles) + 250 (Jeep miles). So that's 12, 370 miles so far.

How did I get around this week?:

We had a large Jeep with a a really nice driver named Tupac. We also walked about a lot.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

I really liked the Swayambuth Complex (complex = lots of buildings or sites). The Swayambuth Complex is a Buddhist and Hindu religious site built on a ridge that overlooks the Kathmandu Valley.

Other Travel News from this week:

We visited many very old community water fountains here. The water comes from streams into a type of tunnel that sends clean water to these fountains. Everyone is free to use them to drink, bathe or wash laundry. The used water then waters crops in the fields. These fountains are called hiti. Many of these structureds were built more than 1000 years ago!
