This semester, I'm partaking in a semester abroad in Sevilla, Spain, where I will live in a homestay and take Spanish classes. A homestay means I am living with a local family in their home.
On January 28th, I got on a plane to Detriot, Michigan. From there, I got on a plane to Amsterdam, Netherlands, and then finally to Sevilla, Spain! I was so exhausted, but excited to be surrounded by palm trees and warm weather. My Uber driver brought me to my homestay, and he helped me bring my luggage down to my elevator. I got up to my apartment floor, knocked on the door, and was welcomed by my host mom. Her name is Isabel, and she greeted me with kindness! Immediately she gave me a tour of her home, and made me freshly squeezed orange juice.
Sevilla is known for the good quality of their oranges, and it was so refreshing. Eventually my roommate arrived and we introduced ourselves to each other. Our host mom Isabel made us albóndigas con arroz for dinner, which is meatballs with rice! It was the perfect meal after our long flights.
Studying abroad is something I hadn't always wanted to do, but last summer in 2024, I visited different parts of Europe. I fell in love with the different countries I visited.
