Hi friends! One fun way I learn about new places is by trying local food. Today, I want to tell you about salmon! However, I have allergies to dairy and peanuts. This means that if I eat food that contains or has come in contact with milk products or nuts, I get very sick. Some of you may also have food allergies! Luckily, it is still possible to try local dishes!
I tried salmon! Salmon is a pink fish that lives in cold water. In Norway, people eat salmon all the time. In fact, Norway is the world's largest producer of salmon. They catch wild salmon in the ocean, and produce farmed salmon in fish farms. I tried salmon for dinner, and it was the main part of my meal. Many of you have probably tried salmon before, too!
I was so excited to eat it in Norway for the first time. I love salmon, but trying it here felt different since it's such an important local food. Sometimes, I'm nervous when trying foods because I have to be careful with my food allergies.
I cooked the salmon on the stove in a pan! By cooking it for myself, I can be sure that it doesn't come in contact with something I'm allergic to. This is the best way for me to stay safe with food allergies, and it's so fun to cook! I seasoned it with salt, pepper, and various herbs.
