How far did I travel this week?:

What a week! I traveled all the way to Georgia for the first time (the country, not the U.S. state). Do you know where Georgia is? It’s just an 865-mile hop, skip, and a jump (and a two-hour plane ride plus a four-hour bus ride) northeast of Cyprus. More specifically, Georgia is bordered by Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, and the Black Sea. I’m here to meet American English teaching assistants like me who are spending this school year living and working all across Europe, including quite a few who are teaching in nearby Russia.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

This week’s travels brought my journey total to 13,285 miles. That’s the same distance as if I climbed to the top of the Empire State Building stacked on top of itself more than 48,375 times. Phew, I’m so grateful I had many different forms of transportation to help out my poor feet this past week!

How did I get around this week?:

Georgian buses, planes, and taxis— oh, my! This week I used almost every form of transportation imaginable on my way to Georgia. I drove to the local bus stop, took an hour-long bus ride to the Larnaca airport, flew two hours to a Georgian airport, and boarded a bus for a four-hour ride to the capital city, Tbilisi.
