I traveled 43 miles to The Hague on Sunday. I took the train from Zaandam, transferred at Sloterdijk, and made it to The Hague in one hour and ten minutes. The Netherlands is a relatively small country and it’s very easy to get around using public transportation.
I arrived in the Netherlands one month ago. From Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Amsterdam, the distance in miles is 3,721! I have stayed within 50 miles of Amsterdam since I arrived here, but stay tuned for longer journeys!
You cannot be properly Dutch until you have a bike, so ever since buying mine last week, I've been riding it everywhere. I ride to and from the train station, where I take the train to get to work in Amsterdam. I also ride to the grocery store and carry the grocery bags on the handles of my bike! The Netherlands has thousands of bike paths, so it is really easy to travel by bike. If I wanted to, I could bike to work, but it would take me an hour to an hour and a half, so I like to take a train and then a tram to save time. It only takes 40 minutes that way!
