It was about 200 miles when I traveled to Korçë and back, and I walk about a half mile to work everyday. Since I have to walk everywhere, I average about 15,000 - 18,000 steps every day!
I've traveled about 4,500 miles to Albania, 200 miles to Sofia, Bulgaria, for a conference, 600 miles to Milan for Christmas, 700 miles to Vienna for New Years and approximately 500 miles around Albania. That's 6,500 miles in total!
I get around everywhere mainly by walking. Sometimes I taxi if I'm running late, and the most I pay for a taxi is about $5.
The previous week, my dad came to visit and we took a trip around Albania, stopping in cities he used to work in when he was in the Albanian military. These are places he hasn't been in over 40 years. In the military they spent years building bunkers all over Albania. We were able to stop in Zvarisht, which is an extremely small village, and some of the people still lived there and recognized him! It was so interesting to hear from him what has or hasn't changed. I also learned so much from the locals and loved how hospitable they were. Almost everyone we met had us stop and drink coffee with them and chat.
