Traditions in Italy!

Introduction:

This tradition takes place in Venice, a famous city with canals and bridges. Many visitors come to see the celebrations. I went the week before Carnival back in January, and it was so busy! It was hard to walk around without bumping into someone.

What tradition did I learn about?:

I learned about Carnival in Venice. I learned that during the festival, people dress in fancy clothes and wear detailed masks. There are parades, performances and special foods that everyone can enjoy.

Why does the community have this tradition?:

Carnival is celebrated before Lent, which is a quieter and more serious time. It gives people a chance to have fun and express themselves before that period begins.

Is this tradition connected to its environment? How?:

It is somewhat as it happens at the end of winter every year. Many costumes are handmade or reused each year, which can help protect the environment by reducing waste.
