Navigating Malaysia

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

While I have access to a car, walking is my preferred mode of transportation. In the United States, we drive on the right side of the road, and the steering wheel is on the left side of the car. The opposite is true here in Malaysia, where cars drive on the left side of the road and the steering wheel is on the right side of the car. I waited several weeks before I tried driving because I was scared of this new system of driving. I did not want to make a mistake and cause an accident. I drove extra slowly the first time, but I have since become much more comfortable driving here.

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

The weather in Malaysia is always hot. The coolest times of day are early in the morning and late at night. Many people choose to ride in a car with air conditioning, even for short trips, because walking out in the heat can make you both sweaty and exhausted.

The main roads in town are paved and easy to navigate. Some of the backroads in town that wind through farmlands are unpredictable and difficult for a car to drive through. It is therefore more common to see motorbikes than cars on these backroads.
