Vroom Vroom: Getting Around Taiwan

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

Public transportation is so convenient, efficient and cheap in Taiwan. I love it! With my additional scooter license, I can basically get around Taiwan like a local. The only thing that you have to watch out for when riding a scooter is the high traffic volume during rush hours when people are getting to and from work. The streets can get pretty hectic and crazy at these times. Additionally, to prevent exposure to the sun and to bad pollution, everyone who rides on scooters covers up with a mask and long-sleeved gear from head to toe.

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

Taiwan is a small island with a population of 24 million people. Word has it that you can circle around the island by car in one day. Cycling around the island will take 10-12 days. Compared to driving a car, riding a scooter is definitely a popular option because not only does this mode of getting around conserve more space, it is also easier to park a scooter than it is a car!

What about where you live? How do you and the people around you get around? Do you prefer one method of transportation over another?
