Taking a Look Into the Lives of Kids: My Interview with Samuel

What chores do you have at home?:

I must wash the dishes. I have to wash my clothes. I should make my bed. I sometimes take out the garbage. I sometimes babysit my little sister because my mom is showering or doing laundry. Sometimes on the weekends I like to prepare breakfast or lunch for my family. 

What jobs do your parents have?:

My father is an elementary school teacher in Sasaima. My mother is also an elementary school teacher in Villeta, a nearby town.

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

School starts at 7:00 A.M. I go home at 2 o’clock P.M.

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

I go to school by foot. Yes, my parents allow me to go by myself.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

I usually eat lunch at my house. My favorite food is hamburgers.

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

At school we speak Spanish. We say hola or que hubo to say hello friends, which means "what’s up."

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

Some common names are Maria and Mariana for girls, and for boys, Samuel and Juan.

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

At school, we study languages, science, social studies, math, chemistry, physics, physical education, business, and for older kids, philosophy and administrative studies. My favorite subject is physical education because I play soccer and volleyball, and I enjoy swimming.
