The weather this week was fairly warm, and it only rained a little, but it was enough to clear away the smog. The temperature is dropping a bit now after our most recent rainy day, as it usually does following a rainstorm.
A beautiful Chilean hawk (a relatively common raptor species here) landed right next to me on a railing as I was watching the river near the sculpture garden in Providencia. There were also some very interesting wading birds, that I think were southern lapwings.
The sculpture garden (Museo Parque de las Esculturas) was home to not only some amazing man-made works of art, but also to a variety of different trees and other plant species, each labeled with its name and region of origin, just like the sculptures were labeled with their names, artists, and materials. I really appreciated the combination of natural and manufactured beauty!
