The hospital itself was confusing with no obvious person on hand to help, and so-called entry doors that looked as though they would trigger an alarm if you were to try passing through them. My friend's room was bland and bare: there was no privacy curtain, and just one lamp on each side of the bed. Her roommate greeted us with a "bonjour" when we walked in, which was nice but also felt odd. It was a lot different than a hospital in the United States that would typically be larger and more innovative with nurses willing to help at every corner. This isn't to say that hospitals in the U.S. are fun places to go to, but this one was particularly sad, especially on a Sunday when it seemed like all the doctors had taken off!
