I have visited Delhi, Agra, Chennai, Kodaikannal, Ooty, Kanyakumari, Mudumali, Kanchipuram, Bangalore, Pondicherry, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. These cities are parts of four Indian states and one Indian territory.
This week, I got around by autorickshaw, car, bus and airplane. Autorickshaws, or "autos," are the fastest and most common way of getting around town. They are small, three-wheeled vehicles that are usually mostly yellow in Vellore.
The most interesting place I visited in Vellore was the local movie theater. I saw the new Spiderman movie with some of my friends and their kids. A fun fact about Vellore is that the best French fries in town are the ones you can order at the movie theater.
This week I traveled out of town more than usual, but I also planned a more local trip for next week. Pongal is coming up and it is the most important festival in Tamil Nadu. I planned a short visit to Gudiyattam, a town outside Vellore, to participate in the bull celebrations with my host family. Hopefully, I will have more Pongal adventures to share in the coming weeks.
